Marriage Preparation

WeddingGreetings to you on behalf of the Most Reverend Kevin Vann, Bishop of Orange, as well as the Franciscan Friars and our parish staff.

Our parish community wishes to support you as much as possible as you prepare for one of the most sacred moments in your life together.  We join you in asking for God’s blessings and we thank you for your willingness to be a sign of God’s love in the Church and the world.

The rite of marriage is a combination of rituals, both sacred and cultural.  We recognize that significant amounts of time, energy and resources go into wedding celebrations and it is our sincere prayer that you would trust us to guide you through the marriage preparation process. Ultimately, we pray that God’s presence, already visible in your love for one another, will be transmitted to family, friends and the Church.

The information below and the programs we offer here at Sts. Simon & Jude are intended to help you in planning your liturgy.  Between two baptized Christians, the rite is considered a sacrament and it is the only one not conferred through the hands of the clergy.  Rather, the sacrament of marriage is realized in the love shared and expressed between a Christian man and woman.

Again, we rejoice with you as you make the choice to prepare, not only for your wedding liturgy but also for your Catholic marriage.  We pray that the Lord will richly bless you with gifts of peace, love and unity.

Please do not hesitate to contact the parish for information and assistance as you proceed.

May the Lord give you peace!

Fr. Daniel F. Barica, ofm
Pastor
